Training for something outside of my comfort zone.

I’ve always enjoyed challenging myself physically. I trained for my first 5km in 2005, my first duathlon on 2007, and my first triathlon in 2008. During the pandemic, with the lack of much social life and a bit more time on my hands, I started triathlon training again.

I initially signed up for a half iron event, which I had previously completed in 2017. I know that I can complete a half iron. I’ve done it before. I found it super tough, but loved it. I always swore I’d never ever do the full iron distance. Never.

But then someone sent me a link to one being held 10 minutes away from my house. At my local beach. Running along the coast paths that I run every weekend. And I signed up. It’s so far out of my comfort zone. I’ve never swam, biked or run that far. Let alone one after the other.

The thought of it fills me with dread and excitement simultaneously. My training has begun, and I’m still not sure if I’ll be able to complete this event, but I’m really enjoying the training process.
